Well, it is true that the names have been indicative for the most part. Although that brings up the question of Sheriff Graham. "Graham" has nothing to do with hunting or huntsmen. If he was the huntsman, wouldn't his name have something to do with that sort of thing? Not necessarily something as obvious as "Hunter" but still...
I'm not sure if the whale is a little too...I don't know that I can really get behind the idea that he's Monstro. I suppose he could be, but my brain refuses to wrap around that idea.

I think it is the fact that it seems like he and Hopper (Henry Therapist) have a story...so we could go from there

Whale might be obvious just because he's such a random character.
The sense I get with Graham is that they deliberately set it up so we couldn't tell who he is (why, I have no idea).

Yeah, I took that for granted until I read all the interviews where they said he's a well-known fairy tale character and you find out early on. I figured they were making it deliberately ambiguous so they could drag it out some.

Well since the writers use to write for Lost, I don't think any character can be considered random, and they have been insistent that everyone has in Storybrooke besides Emma and Henry has a fairy tale counterpart.
Plus it's David Anders, I doubt they would waste him as a random character. I'm fairly certain we will be seeing him again in the future.

But I also think they may have some character names that are deliberately vague or...I'm sorry to whip this out for the more traumatized members of this board..."red herrings" to hide the ball from the audience, so to speak. I do think Dr. Whale could be like that. Let's face it, Dr. Whale is actually kinda a lame name, otherwise. Yes, I'm now critiquing the cleverness of the names. But since we're going to have to use the names to try to figure out who the characters are, I figure they've opened that door!

That's true. The fun of this show is using the very few clues we get to guess which fairy tale certain characters come from and how they all interact with one another.

Yeah, but after they named Cinderella "ASHley"?? I'm further convinced that Dr. Whale is exactly that -- the whale.
I feel like the only one that is supposed to be ambigious is Graham -- it appears the rest of them are supposed to be obvious.
(Although why a whale turns into a doctor in this world is kind of beyond me.)
